Little Red Riding Hood
by
Hend Kholeif, age 12.

Once upon a time in a far away land,

There lived little red riding hood in a house not so grand,

She always wore a red hat and dress,

And she always made so much mess,

She and her mother were eating fast,

When her mother spoke at last,

"Go to your granny and give her this,

In it are some cookies and chips,

The forest path, don't go through,

Walk on the pavement, oh please do!

It is much safer listen to me,

The forest is too dangerous for you to be."

Little red riding hood took her things,

And flew off as if she had wings,

Now she came to a crossroad

"The forest is more attractive," she thought,

So into the forest she goes,

Picking up every flower and rose,

She was singing and having fun

And dancing in the morning sun,

How little did she know,

Of the cunning fox who saw her go,

"Here's some dinner fresh and sweet,

All of it for me to eat."

He went to the little girl

He acted like he was kind

While he had an evil plan in his mind

He asked her, "What are you doing in here?"

She said, "To my grandmother, she's very dear"

Little red riding hood went on with her walk

After ending the fox's talk

While the fox took a short cut

To the grandmother's hut

He opened the door of the house

And ignored the squeal of the little mouse

He gobbled poor old grandma up

Opened the wardrobe and grabbed a fancy top

It was not long before

Little red riding hood opened the door

She got closer to her grandmother

But it was the fox and no one other

"Your voice sounds so odd, what's wrong?

Now you can't sing me any song."

"I just have a touch of cold

It's because I am so old."

"But granny, why have you got such a big ear?"

" The better to see you with, my dear ."

"But granny, what big eyes you have got."

"I want to see you better and a lot."

"But Granny, why are your teeth so big?"

"It's to eat you with." The fox took off his wig.

He chased the little girl around

She shouted and luckily a hunts man she found

He hit the fox right on the head,

And he spit poor granny who then sat on the bed.

"If only I had listened to my mum

And hadn't been this dumb

Then all of this would have been well."

Grandma said, "Well, now you have a good story to tell."
