Ivy
by Natalie, age 14.
You are like ivy, growing on a tree,
You are the ivy,
And the tree is me,
In order for you to grow ,
You have to hurt me,
In your quest to reach the stars,
You smother me,
Starve me of oxygen,
I need to breath,
I need to be free.
You are like ivy, growing on a tree,
You are the ivy,
And the tree is me,
In order for you to grow,
You have to hurt me,
Like the roots of ivy dig its way under the bark,
I can feel you under my skin,
Crawling through my veins,
I need to stand strong,
I need to be free.
You are like ivy, growing on a tree,
You are the ivy,
And the tree is me,
In order for you to grow,
You have to hurt me,
But I want to grow too,
You will not pull me down,
I will push you away,
I will force you out
I will be free.
