H.I.V.E. / Big Bad Read competition

Villains have always intrigued author Mark Walden: 'They have the best lines, the best costumes and the best toys!' he says. The setting for his first children's book, H.I.V.E., is a top-secret school of applied villainy where children with a precocious talent for wrongdoing can use the advice of experts and the latest technology to develop their skills. We had 5 signed copies to give away the winner of this competition.

The prize...

Hive cover'Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to your new home. Your lives as you once knew them are over. You have been selected, all of you, the worst, the most cunning, the most mischievous minds from around the world . selected to become part of an institution like no other.'

The Higher Institute of Villainous Education (or H.I.V.E.) is a mysterious school set up to transform promising children into criminal masterminds of the future.

Otto Malpense, having been drugged and taken to the school's secret island location, is the latest addition to the register, and is expected to spend the next six years of his life being trained in the ways of wickedness.

He does indeed have a natural talent for villainy, but as Otto doesn't appreciate being forced to spend his adolescence taking classes to prove it, he soon becomes their worst nightmare. He and another new recruit, Wing Fanchu, are going to give the Higher Institute of Villainous Education a taste of its own medicine!
